Copa Coca-Cola

Coca-Cola encourages physical activity and an active lifestyle as part of a healthy lifestyle especially among young people. One of the platforms which allows us to encourage activity in young people is the Copa Coca-Cola Sponsorship, which since 1968, has been the start of many a football career.

Under the Coca-Cola banner, our company has contributed towards football by providing a platform for talented grassroots, secondary school, football players to compete to shine..

On the 1st of February 2015, we launched the 47th COPA Coca-Cola tournament in Nkhatabay. As usual, the tournament received a huge response from schools across the country with 1,450 schools registered.

Some of the 2015 highlights include the increase in sponsorship from MK30 Million to MK36 Million. Also we saw improvement in sportsmanship with player-discipline observed from Zone level right to the National final games. Furthermore Copa Coca-Cola supported the training of referees and increased involvement from teachers, showing that this sponsorship keeps touching the lives of not only young teens, but also adult educators dedicated to football.

The COPA Coca-Cola Finals took place on the 31st of July to 2nd of August 2015 in Balaka, attracting a crowd of over 5,000 spectators.

This year, Copa Coca-Cola tournament also exposed  young talent to international football camps like earlier in 2015, 2 players that stood-out from the 2014 tournament as top goalscorer and best goalkeeper were sent to Germany for an international camp. Also, later in September 2015, a select Under-15 team, this time from the 2015 tournament, travelled to South Africa’s High Performance Centre for a week-long camp where they interacted with teams from other Southern African countries, and football legends, Jomo Sono and Clive Barker.  The international camp included lots of activities meant to develop the team’s sports prowess and interact with sports experts from HPC.
